• About The Role

  • We are recruiting for an Area Sales Manager to join the Network Sales team at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWCV) to be based in the North of England or Scotland on a full time permanent basis. Our areas are divided by our Investor Groups so regular domestic travel is required including overnight stays.

It is an exciting time to join us as we not only continue our success in the Commercial Vehicle space with the recent launch of our Halo Transporter Sportline but also build our campervan and passenger carrying variants such as the ID. Buzz and Multivan.

You will be part of a small but highly effective team that touch all areas of our business, requiring an understanding of not only dealer processes and challenges but also our own internal functions.

The Area Sales Manager is responsible for managing the operational performance and strategic alignment of their network partners for VWCV. You will also be working closely with the network partner management to ensure that their short, medium and long term plans and performance are aligned and integrated with the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VWCV) strategy.

Whilst it’s not simple to pin down a typical week in this varied role, a regular schedule might include 4 dealer visits, including one overnight stay, internal Teams meetings to keep up to speed with all things product/tactical/marketing related, a morning forecasting and some time to review data and plan for your following week. We aim to spend our time where we can be most impactful based on our Performance Management Process meaning you are measured more on your outputs rather than number of meetings, etc. Monthly team meetings are also held in Milton Keynes at our Head Office in Blakelands.

    What you could be doing:

    • To ensure our network partners understand the VWCV strategic vision and intent and ensure their people, processes and resources are operating in alignment with that strategic intent.
    • To develop and leverage relationships and brand focus within each retailer to ensure that performance objectives are achieved.
    • To ensure that each retailer is maximising their vehicle stock against targets in order to maximise sales potential and profitability of the business.
    • To ensure that all retailers in the area have a committed focus on delivering excellent customer service.
    • To measure, monitor and put in place strategies and tactics to improve network partners performance.
    • To be responsible for the engagement of all retailers in delivery of a continual improvement culture including reviewing retailer training plans.
    • To assist network partners to achieve a sustainable business model through Strategic alignment with the group and VWCV.

Skills & experience you can bring to the role:

    • An ability to effectively engage and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders within the retailer businesses and brand, in a variety of business settings
    • A thorough understanding of the core processes necessary to deliver retailer excellence in your specified area
    • A practical level of business financial awareness, sufficient to provide valued input and insight at a retailer operational level whilst at the same time recognising areas of risk and opportunity for the retailer or brand
    • Knowledge of automotive industry
    • Experience of working in a customer focused environment
    • Previous proven sales experience

    What can we offer you?

Along with a competitive salary, car schemes (including cars for family members), discretionary bonus, fuel card, enhanced pension contributions, private healthcare, 27 days holiday plus bank holidays, 4 x life assurance & health & wellbeing support, we also offer a wide range of flexible benefits to suit you and your lifestyle.

Meet some of the team

Lisa, Sales Support Manager

When I left school, I started working for a Volkswagen retailer as a Receptionist and Showroom Host before progressing through to the role of Fleet Business Development Manager and then taking on the role of a New Car Development Coach. I started at the head office via a third party supplier in 2018 before joining officially in 2020. I love that we all have the same goal and work as a team to achieve it. Each month has different challenges, but we always work together get things done.
