• About The Role

  • Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles are recruiting for an Area Fleet Manager, field-based in Manchester and the North, on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a high-performing sales professional to join one of the UK’s most recognisable automotive brands at a defining moment for the commercial vehicle market.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is entering an exciting new chapter, with fleet at the heart of our future growth strategy. The market is evolving at pace, driven by new legislation, changing customer expectations, electrification and intensifying competition. We are looking for someone who wants to be at the forefront of that change — helping us strengthen our market position, deepen customer relationships and shape the future of fleet.
In this role, you will join a supportive and ambitious team with a strong product range, clear strategic direction and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across customers, retailers and leasing partners. Reporting to the National Fleet Manager, you will play a key role in delivering annual sales and order targets across agreed market channels, creating and executing a clear territory plan and building trusted, long-term relationships across your area.

    What you’ll be responsible for
    • Deliver fleet sales volume targets for your area.
    • Find and grow new business with customers, leasing partners and retailers.
    • Build a clear territory plan that helps you focus on the right customers and opportunities.
    • Create strong, long-term relationships with customers.
    • Keep customers engaged, loyal and satisfied through great account management.
    • Put together clear, compelling proposals that meet customer needs and support our sales goals.
    • Work confidently within the rules and processes that support our sales channels.
    • Help make new ways of working simple, clear and easy to follow.
    • Support key projects that improve how we work and grow.
    • Bring ideas that help us work smarter, use technology well and keep improving.

    What we’re looking for
    • A confident communicator who can connect with different audiences.
    • Someone who can influence, negotiate and build positive outcomes.
    • A strong track record of meeting sales targets.
    • Good commercial judgement and the ability to spot opportunities.
    • Great relationship-building skills and the ability to earn trust quickly.
    • A customer-first mindset and a genuine focus on service.
    • Experience in B2B sales, account management or a similar commercial role.

    What can we offer you?
Along with a competitive salary, car schemes (including cars for family members), discretionary bonus, fuel card, enhanced pension contributions, private healthcare, 27 days holiday plus bank holidays, 4 x life assurance & health & wellbeing support, we also offer a wide range of flexible benefits to suit you and your lifestyle.

Meet some of the team

David, National Contract Hire & Leasing Manager

I have been working in the Volkswagen Passenger Cars team for almost five years. In my current role, I am responsible for the strategic relationships with our leasing company partners and all fleet sales in the brand. What I love most about working within the direct sales team is the fast-paced environment and the broad range of stakeholders I work with both internally and externally.

David, National Contract Hire & Leasing Manager
Jake, Area Fleet Manager

I thoroughly enjoy the business-to-business element of my role – visiting customers, seeing our vehicles on the road and knowing I played a part in getting them from the factory to their destination. By meeting diverse professionals across various business sectors, I learn about their unique needs. It’s a dynamic role that combines relationship-building with the satisfaction of seeing tangible results on the road.

Jake, Area Fleet Manager
Amanda, Fleet Business Development Manager

I’ve worked for Volkswagen Group UK for almost 32 years. That may sound like a lifetime, but a fair number of colleagues across the business have been around for a similar amount of time. I think that clearly illustrates what a great place to work this is. There’s such a wide range of roles and benefits available, that there’s no reason to move elsewhere. The Direct Sales teams across all of our brands were established fairly recently to consolidate the areas that focus on selling our vehicles directly to customers. I’m the Fleet Development Manager within the team and we’re primarily responsible for selling vehicles to the various channels within the fleet industry.
